AC Milan will face Manchester City, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona at iconic U.S. venues as part of the DIRECTV Soccer Champions Tour 2024
The Club’s commitment to growing and developing connections with the U.S. market will be enhanced through exclusive fan events and community initiatives
New York, NY, July 25, 2024 – AC Milan is set to kick off the2024 Pre-Season Tour in the United States, marking a new chapter in the Club’s global development under the leadership of RedBird Capital Partners, AC Milan’s majority shareholder.
Mister Fonseca’s team will face formations from Europe’s elite in the DIRECTV Soccer Champions Tour 2024. The Rossoneri will meet Manchester City on July 27 at Yankee Stadium in New York, then take on Real Madrid on July 31 at Soldier Field in Chicago. The tour will conclude with a match against FC Barcelona on Aug. 6 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, a special challenge between two clubs that will celebrate their 125th anniversary next season.
This is the second consecutive year that AC Milan has chosen North America for its Pre-Season Tour, following the positive experience in California and Nevada last year. The new U.S. Tour underscores the club’s strong connection with the American market. With 43 million fans in the United States, AC Milan is the most followed Italian club in the country and the most popular according to international market research by YouGov.
The Pre-Season Tour will significantly strengthen AC Milan’s presence in a region with a growing interest in soccer and provide a unique opportunity to further boost the Rossoneri brand’s commercial growth and strength, while strengthening relationships with partners including Emirates, PUMA, MSC Cruises, BMW and KONAMI. As part of these partnerships, the local fanbase will be engaged through exclusive initiatives, including a premium event in Manhattan with PUMA highlighting the synergy between soccer and fashion, and a special meet-and-greet to be held on August 3 at the PUMA Flagship Store on Fifth Avenue.
The Tour will also provide the Club with an opportunity to strengthen its relationship with the New York Yankees, the Rossoneri’s partner since 2022. This strategic partnership has united two of the world’s most iconic sports brands and stems from a long-standing relationship between Yankee Global Enterprises and RedBird Capital Partners, AC Milan’s majority shareholder.
In addition to commercial initiatives, the Tour will include dedicated community activities in collaboration with Milan Foundation. These initiatives, which will feature Club legends, aim to support the New York City community, reinforcing AC Milan’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
In addition, the retail truck that will accompany the team during the three matches of the Tour will offer fans in the stadiums the opportunity to purchase official Club merchandise and customize their own jerseys, consolidating their bond with the Rossoneri family. The Club will also stay connected with its more than 550 million fans worldwide from overseas through exclusive multimedia content created by Milan Media House, engaging Milan fans daily through the Club’s official platforms.
