On Aug. 13, the two clubs will play the second edition in memory of President Berlusconi
Milan, July 16, 2024 – The “Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi”, the challenge between AC Milan and AC Monza, the two clubs beloved by the President. Held last summer at theU-Power Stadium in Monza, this year it is scheduled for the first time at the San Siro, Tuesday, August 13, with kickoff at 9 p.m., live on television on Channel 5.
This initiative, established by Milan and Monza last year, keeps alive the memory of President Silvio Berlusconi, who wrote indelible pages of Italian and international soccer with the two clubs. He was the most successful president in Milan’s 125-year history, collecting 29 trophies in 31 years and taking the Rossoneri club to the roof of the world. Having acquired Monza in 2018, the president was able first to bring the red and white back to Serie B after 19 years since the last time and then led them in May 2022 to a historic first promotion to Serie A, the top division in which they are now preparing to play for the third consecutive season, after two salvations obtained well in advance.
For Paulo Fonseca, the new Rossoneri coach, it will be the first time at the San Siro on the Milan bench; he will take on Alessandro Nesta, the new coach of Monza, who, after wearing the Rossoneri jersey for ten years, will now face Milan for the first time.
The match is part of the 125th Anniversary celebrations since the birth of the Rossoneri Club.
The jerseys used by players from the two teams will be auctioned on matchwornshirt.com, and part of the proceeds will be used by Milan Foundation-in collaboration with the two clubs-for a social project to support young people in need.
Tickets to attend the match will go on sale from July 17 starting at noon online at singletickets.acmilan.com, at the Casa Milan Ticket Office and on Vivaticket circuits.
