Let’s start our journey to discover the projects of #FromMilantotheWorld, an initiative of Fondazione Milan and Puma linked to the Away 21/22 jersey that involves six cities around the world.
Let’s start from Milan, from the Kayrós association committed to fighting educational poverty through soccer, which becomes the engine for change for many children. Their goal is to help these kids in the process of socialization and growth, to contribute to the re-education and subsequent social reintegration of young people and adolescents in conflict with the law and at risk of dropping out of school.
The Kayrós Association was founded in 2000 in Lambrate (a suburb of Milan) on the initiative of Don Claudio Burgio and people and families sensitive to the reception of minors in difficulty, reported by the Juvenile Court, the Social Services of reference and the police.
In 2015 was born the new Kayros Center in Vimodrone, current headquarters of the Association where there are 3 host communities for adolescents and 2 apartments for autonomy.
Kayrós is a term that comes from the Greek and means:” opportune time”, “favorable moment” or “right time for”.
These are the words of Don Claudio Burgio: “we welcome about fifty young people from the juvenile penal system, they are boys that I already meet at Beccaria, in the juvenile prison of Milan where I am chaplain, and some of them come here and do their “alternative sentence to prison” or carry out a project of “trial” that helps them to resocialize and reintegrate better into society”.
Thanks to the contest #FromMilantotheWorld Kayròs would have the opportunity to organize weekly trainings, supported by an additional figure who will be in charge of monitoring the internal dynamics of the group of beneficiaries, both during and before and after the training sessions as well as numerous activities of educational and training support aimed at the positive reintegration of the beneficiaries into society.
The association aims to be on the territory a “non-specialized” resource, a place of life that participates, with its characteristics, in the development of the city.
